Position Summary

 The Cultural Resource Specialist II will participate in Cultural events and ceremonies under the direction of the Cultural Resources Supervisor. The individual will assist in the preparation and organization of cultural programs and services to Stillaguamish members.  This position will also provide support in other areas of the Cultural department such as THPO, Carving, Archeology, Youth, & Elders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·         Assist with planning events such as Pow wow’s, Salmon Ceremony, ground breakings and ground openings.

·         Coordinate craft classes.

·         Assist in teaching cultural activities.

·         Tribal community outreach.

·         Assist with preparing for all of the events and ceremonies.

·         Maintain inventory of giveaways.

·         Field work.

·         Conduct site visits to known Stillaguamish sites as needed.

·         Assist with youth & elders in cultural program initiatives

·         Assist with archaeology projects as needed and in collaboration with the THPO staff.

·         Assist with native plant education and initiatives in collaboration with the THPO staff.

Work Environment

The worker is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions, which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is subject to outside environmental conditions and to wet and/or humid conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

 Position Qualifications

·         Must be a Stillaguamish Tribal member or descendant.

 

·         Minimum of three years of working knowledge of Stillaguamish culture, history, and traditions.

·         Problem solving- identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, gathers and analyzes information skillfully and maintains confidentiality.

·         Interpersonal skills- exhibit willingness to try new things.

·         Oral communication- speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations and demonstrates group presentation skills.

Travel Requirements

Local travel is frequently required.  Travel outside of the state is infrequently required.
