Position Summary

 Provide substance use disorder outpatient services to individuals as well as individual, group and family counseling to patients with substance use disorders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·         Provide substance use disorder outpatient services to individuals at Island Crossing Counseling Services Methadone treatment to ensure appropriate and/or required services are completed.

·         Provide individual, group and family counseling to patients with substance use disorders.

·         Provide on-going community education relating to alcohol, drugs and other substances.

·         Provide liaison services for individuals to agencies offering alcohol, drug and other social services.

·         Maintain active individual caseload and document detailed records of treatment and aftercare.

·         Conduct assessments.

·         Facilitate treatment groups.

·         Develop and maintain up to date individual service plans.

·         Refer individuals to appropriate services in a timely manner.

·         Work as a team member within the Stillaguamish Tribe Chemical Dependency Programs.

·         Maintain strict confidentiality of all individual information.

·         Maintain and treat individuals, coworkers and visitors with respect.

·         All other duties as assigned by Clinical Supervisor.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

·         Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times. Adhere to 42CFR section 8 and HIPAA rulings.

  • Ability to read and interpret general business correspondence, policies, and procedures, referral information, financial documentation, and applicable government regulations.
  • Ability to write business letters, uncomplicated reports, instructions, and procedures.
  • Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from patients, staff, referral sources, and the general public.
  • Ability to operate computer, computer program, copier, email, instant messenger, fax and phone.
  • Ability to complete all job duties in a fast paced environment while managing a case load of 70+ clients.

  • Occasionally requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time.
  • Occasionally requires ascending or descending stairs or ramps using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
  • Occasionally requires raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally.
  • Occasionally requires stooping which entails the use of the lower extremities and back muscles.  Infrequently requires crouching.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

 Position Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Social Services or equivalent required by Washington State Department of Health.
  • Substance Use Disorder Professional certification pursuant to applicable Washington State Department of Health.
  • Must keep Substance Use Disorder license active.
  • Must keep CEU’s up to date.
  • Drug-free and out of treatment for a minimum of two years prior to employment.
  • Previous experience providing professional substance use disorder counseling to Native Americans preferred.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check, pre-employment drug screening, and ongoing random drug screenings.

·         WA State Driver license and ability to be approved by Tribal insurance to drive Tribal vehicles if applicable
